February 29th, 2008 by admin

Most people have a general idea how many calories they consume when it comes to solid foods, although it is quite common to forget that when we drink, we are still consuming calories. Alcohol drinkers, especially wine drinkers, may be surprised at the calorie intake associate with wine. So how many calories are in wine?

The answer depends on your discernment. Most wines come in under the 100 calorie mark per glass. This is assuming that you are using the appropriate wine glasses. There are fewer calories in wine than most other alcoholic beverages. White Zinfandel and Sauvignon blanc come in at 80 calories per serving. Considering that one glass of wine per evening is good for cardiovascular health, this can be a reasonable compliment to an evening meal.

Our world is going through a process of constant change. Wheels of change turn faster and faster. But us mere mortal human beings are basically still the same creatures that we have been for the last 10000 years or so.

I had an interesting discussion with my 87-year old father the other day. I remarked “What incredible changes you must have gone through in your life”. He admitted that he had seen many dramatic changes since he was a little kid.

I’m a fan of casseroles – meat, vegetables, and carbohydrates all in one dish. But when you really take a look, you realize as you’re cooking that casseroles are truly NOT a one dish meal. You have a pot to cook the noodles, a strainer to drain them, a pan to brown the meat, a pot to heat the cream base and combine everything in, and a baking dish to bake it in. That doesn’t seem like one dish; it seems more like five.

Home-based Business And The Joy Of Jelly Toast (via Cobweb/3.1 Planetlab-2.cs.colostate.edu)

Home-Based Business and the Joy of Jelly Toast
By Scott Lindsay

Jimmy just dropped his toast on the floor. Of course the jelly side flips over so the sweet grape flavor has every opportunity to stain the carpet. A mouth encircled in purple looks at the floor from his highchair vantage point and says, “Uh oh”.

Scruffy, the family Schnauzer ambles into the kitchen and works to remove the evidence before he is shooed out the back door. Jenny is grabbing her backpack and Stacy is looking for her earrings – the ones she just had to get at the mall this past weekend. Like usual most of the breakfast items are ignored as everyone scrambles for the door heading to school.
