As a Flooring Design Consultant it is my responsibility to help people find exactly what type of flooring they want and the style of flooring that will best suit their needs. All to often I will work with a client to find the perfect match for their needs for a practical price. We review all the types of flooring that are available, consider the style of décor they want to achieve and what style of flooring will look, wear and clean the best for the needs of their household, only to have them make a sudden turn and SETTLE for something less than what they want.

Think back to a time early in your career when you met with your boss
for a performance review. Do you ever remember your boss stating something
about your ability in a certain area, as if that was all you were
good at?
Or has someone ever introduced you at a business function by stating an
area of your expertise as if that was all you did? (Which made you think,
“Hey! That’s only a piece of what I do, but it’s certainly not all I do!”)
If either of these situations occurred, you were branded (and burned!).

A wallflower cannot succeed in this competitive world. One has to stand out in order to be heard. If you are timid and shy, you will not be noticed. You have to get your point across.
To overcome shyness, you have to give yourself more credit. In other words, you must have more self-esteem. Low self-esteem often result to being shy and afraid to speak up. If you know your worth, you will not have second thoughts speaking your mind.
If you are shy, think of the many opportunities you will miss. If you lack the courage to take the extra step, you will have difficulty in going after your aspirations and goal.

Why is change so difficult? There is a dark secret that tries to hold us back from all the success we so earnestly desire.
We are born with the innate ability to overcome any human hardship whether it be social, emotional, mental, physical, or financial. The key has to be discovered on our own personal journey. Year after year books are published promising happiness, joy, prosperity, love and health. They just don’t tell us how to do it. Oh, yes, they tell us to think positive or forget about the past. They offer us chants and “powers” and even “secrets”.

The dim green light from the nightstand alarm clock shows 2:12 a.m. A deep breath, followed by a sigh, leaves you staring past the clock to the windowpane. The rain is gently falling and the drops of water collect on the glass in sad, lonely drops. They seem so content to just be there and let time pass… slowly. The darkness beyond the raindrops hangs in the sky like a warm blanket on a cool fall night. Stars glow like bright polka dots, light years from your bedroom. You roll over and adjust the covers as your gaze falls on the shadowed silhouette of your spouse. As sleep avoids you for yet another night, you notice how content the person next to you seems to be resting.

I’ve had the privilege to present “effective Time Management” to several organizations including Bank One. The topic is always well received and elicits spirited conversation about the “how-to” to manage information overload. Let’s face it we are literally assaulted with constant bombardment of information via television, radio, books, magazines, newspapers, and our daily interactions with others. Help! How DO we get a handle on all of this? What’s the secret to keeping your life streamlined and organized? The bottom line of successful time management is successful self management.
